-- CHRISTINE BAKER, CPDT-KA, UW-AAB, SBA, FDM, LSHC-S --
Christine attended Clemson University, where she pursued Animal & Veterinary Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, and was Certified in Applied Animal Behavior by the University of Washington (UW-AAB), as well as the L.E.G.S.® Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation® Professional Course (FDM). Christine is committed to continuing education and improvement, and to this end, she was accepted into the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional Program. Her work and volunteer experience include veterinary medicine, daycare & boarding, animal rescue & welfare, shelter behavior & enrichment, emergency response deployment with the ASPCA FIR team, instructing Penn Vet Working Dog Center's Canine Handler Academy.
Christine obtained her CPDT-KA through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, the only independent, standardized certification for dog training professionals. She is also a member of multiple professional organizations, a Shelter Behavior Affiliate (SBA) through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, a licensed AKC Canine Good Citizen & STAR Puppy Evaluator, and KPA-Puppy Start Right and PPG-Pet Dog Ambassador Instructor. Following a variety of other service industry positions, Christine has been fully immersed in animal behavior since moving to James Island in 2016, particularly the humane treatment of “problem” dogs. In August 2019, she quit her day job in the behavior department of Charleston Animal Society (the local animal shelter) and ventured into the world of small business and entrepreneurship. Christine also moonlights as Training Coordinator for Wonder Dog University. She acts as administrative lead, while also helping clients as both a training assistant and an independent instructor. She teaches clients via private consults and group classes, covering topics ranging from puppy socialization to reactivity and aggression. Christine’s free time is mainly spent enjoying the Lowcountry with (you guessed it!) her two foster-fail dogs, Faith and Lydia - her greatest teachers and favorite learners!
